Imaginary House

I looked back, and what was, was not
An imaginary house that stood behind the trees
Though it had no address, the windows were open
As I peered inside I saw shared love, shared thoughts
it was the house I wanted yet was not ready to buy
Each night driving past, my mind captured the warmth
it emanated outwards and was sensed in the street
Yes, I may miss this place, as I save to memory
I looked back and what was, was not
... and the breeze blew a leaf by my feet

Very nice job with this one Speedy, with both the picture and the poem. Things aren't always what they seem, are they. Our ideas of what we want change over time, and sometimes we don't recognize that we already have what we are looking for, or we had it and weren't ready for it and didn't know enough to hang onto it.

I really like the ending on this. "And a breeze blew a leaf by my feet" That conveys a sense of loneliness in some ways, but also a sense of hope and change to me.

:-D Reading this and writing this comment, I feel like I'm back in college in one of my poetry classes. haha!

Have a good weekend, Speedy.

Hi Speedy! I love this. Kinda sad, but optimistic. Homesick for something you haven't had. I get it, I feel like that sometimes, too!

Ahoy Cap’n Slappy “Parrot-Got-Me-Eyyeeeeeeeeeee” Feathersword,

Three Bilge-sucking sheets t' th' wind…

Ye imaginary house be so Buzzy,
Do ye feel so Fuzzy?

P.S. Fer clarity, me short poem means ye house be Eyyeeeeeeeeeeecatching an' blunderingly strange under th' influence o' alcohol (Buzzy) an' it reveals ye hopeless romance of ye salt-blastedly lonely love (Fuzzy).

The leaf was a very nice touch.

The poem made me sad, though. I want you to have all of the wonderful things in life.

Big hugs and smootches! xoxooxox
