The search started long before perception
lines in the sand as guides
in circles, in figure eights, in desultory direction
arrival seemed adjacent to my path
it appeared just within grasp
yet, what might be there was blurred
then in desperation and doubt ...
I dropped my eyes to the landscape at my feet
a point with centered gravity pulled me in
my eyes had led my astray on the wrong axis
look up, raise hands, and climb

Most of the things that come into mind are just an individual's perceptions. Someone's reality may not be the reality for another.
