Red Box Star Trek Review for One Dollar

I found a new promotion for the "Red Box" Star Trek movie on line. The deal? ... post a blog with a review of the movie and get a free rental. That would be a ONE DOLLAR value! Of course, I decided to take them up on this incredible super bargain.
Between the registration time and actual blogging time ( one hour ) I have projected my earnings to be in the one dollar per hour range. Of course, after taxes this will be about 53c . Only problem is I wasted all my time doing all the above and did not have time to watch the DVD.
Here is my plan: Have someone COMMENT about how they liked the movie, and then I will copy ( plagiarize you ). That should fulfill my contract, no?

If redbox has a problem with that, well they can just get a hold of my lawyer, Shielah Copenhauggens.

Sarah Palin has been in the media a LOT. Many believe that her appearance on Oprah was a sign of end times. You Betcha!

They say she has a big following by male conservatives, and is despised by females. This is not true, because yesterday a woman told me she would date Palin any time.

The big news in Hollydale? Palin will be appearing in Minnesota at the Mall of America in Bloomington. I received my invitation [ RIGHT ] in the mail two days ago, addressed to "Current Male Resident". I would go, but have racquetball league finals that day.
In related news, Levi Johnston Says No to the Palin Thanksgiving ... but says yes to a Playgirl spread. He will not show the Toyota Prius. Must have the 1.2 liter motor ...

Before I get any negative comments about the junk mail scan with buxom photos, please note that my intentions were simply to gain a few million image search visitors.

California Imposes Rule for Efficiency on Some TVs

California regulators gave final approval on Wednesday to the first mandatory U.S. energy curbs on television sets. This growing, but often overlooked power drain accounts for 15 percent of home electric bills in the state. When fully implemented, California's standards will be the most stringent for new TVs in the world, said Noah Horowitz, a senior scientist for the Natural Resources Defense Council.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger stated that this new policy is for regular citizens, and he would mot have any girly man TV's in HIS mansion.

Eggo maker warns buyers of shortage

Kelloggs says there will be a nationwide shortage of its popular Eggo frozen waffles until next summer because of interruptions in production at two of the four plants that make them.

The company's Atlanta plant was shut down for an undisclosed period by a September storm that dumped historic amounts of rain in the area. Meanwhile, several production lines at its largest bakery in Tennessee are closed indefinitely for repairs.
It will take until the middle of 2012 before shelves around the country are stocked at pre-shutdown levels, and customers are already noticing near empty Eggo shelves in the freezer aisle.
I bought the entire inventory of Eggos at the Hollydale Market, and now have frantic people at my door every day. You can guess what I tell them ....

Fed officials play down impact of weak dollar by taking field trip to the Dollar Tree in Washington DC.

Dallas Fed President Richard Fisher said in an interview with Market News International that panic is just silly. Just open your eyes, and take a look at this whole store full of consumer goods! Pans, cat litter, ravioli, books, plastic flower arrangements .... you name it!

"The only problem with dollar stores is the fact that shopping carts are made for really tiny people". Why they are so F'in small is beyond me. Most people dump the aluminum cans out of their "own" large carts, and bring them inside.

Hollydale Golf Course

Playing November golf here in Minnesota is a gift. I played Hollydale Golf Course on Monday 11/16 with a warm 51 degree sun shining over frozen ponds. By the end of the round as the sun set on the horizon, the temperature had dropped to a cool 39 F.
Below are some photos from what may have been the most fun afternoon of the year. My score you ask? .... 76. I think I played better than that number, by my short game let me down on the back nine.

Vintage Desk & Writing Pad

One day I was reading a post about Vintage Radios, and it sparked my enthusiasm for a vintage desk I own. It was made in the late 20's and was owned by my Great Grandfather Hollydale.

A Vintage Writing Desk can have many forms and styles, but most were smaller than current models, and had time consuming hand craftsmanship that made them unique.

When you open this Vintage Desk, you find many small cubby holes, a small pull out drawer, and the original writing pad! It is hand made with leather backing and corners, and thick multi-ply writing papers as a creative surface.

It is amazing and exciting to me that I can use this exquisite piece ... just as my Great Grandfather did.

When I first brought this Vintage Desk home, it was not in very good shape. After some structural work and minor wood repairs, it is now looking fantastic. I never had much interest in antiques or Vintage Furniture in the past. Times change, and I am now in search of a matching chair. The rest of my place has an updated modern feel to it, so I think this vintage desk is the perfect accompaniment and adds a nice focal point to my sun room.

Community Blogging ALERT

Playing Refrigerator Wars With Eric! ... Hey, that sounds quite interesting. Debo has entered the fridge contest! Click that link and get over there because the door is open. Word on the street is there is also a bunch of candy in them there fridgee shelves.

Where do I go from here?

I remember the first time I heard the song, as it took me by surprise. My heart stirred as I listened to the melody, and felt the ocean breeze warmly blow across my face. There were not many in the hotel cantina, just me and a few tourists. My travels were not personal, yet at this moment in time I felt as though I was on an adventure.

I was standing under the canopy that connected the main bar and the beach area ... somewhat like the perfect segue from relaxation to paradise.
As the song ended, I felt suddenly alone. That's when my eyes caught hers.
My initial reaction was to shyly turn away, but I could not. I was captivated as she flowed across the room. She smiled in my direction - and it sent a shiver down my spine. She sat at the bar and started a conversation with an older couple wearing floral printed shirts and shorts.
A laugh erupted from somewhere inside of me as I reflected on my boyish reaction to her beauty. I felt so young as I turned to walk out towards the ocean and feel the light spray dance across my skin.
The sun was just about below the horizon, when it appears as a bright orange glow. I swallowed the last of my grapefruit juice and jostled the ice with my straw. Seemed to be a good way to end

my day and return to my room.

Turning back, to my surprise, there was the mystery woman right behind me. "There is nothing better than the sun going down into the Pacific", she said.
My best reply was, "I know, couldn't agree more".
My mind raced. Surely you can come up with something better than that, I thought.
Before a new sentence could form, she reached out her hand to mine.
"I haven't danced in such a long time ... care

to join me inside?", she charmingly requested.
I said, "That would be nice"
As we stepped onto the dance floor, the music was just ending. To my delight, a slow romantic song began. She wrapped her arms around my shoulders, and I lightly placed my hands on her hips.
As we swayed back and forth she ran her fingers across the back of my neck. It sent an electric shiver through my body. I looked into her, not at her, and saw sweetness and charm. Confidence mirrored by humility, and strength coupled with a soft feminine glow.
Have you ever experienced a moment in time when past and future seem to dissipate? I felt weightless, subdued, and passive. The world around me could crash to pieces, and I would still be focused to the temporal connection at hand.

The night ended outside waiting for a taxi to whisk her away to the airport. As we kissed, the rain began to fall. Neither of us seemed to care. Water streamed down my face, across my lips and hers. We were soaked by the time the car pulled in. We smiled at each other, we laughed, and said goodbye.

Days later I received a letter. It described a woman lost, lonely, and abandon by another. It explained a long story full of sadness and rejection. It also stated the notion that reconciliation was to ensue. I knew that I would never see her again.
I have replayed the night with her countless times in my mind ... like watching a movie hoping that the ending would somehow be different. Tonight, once again, I am alone.

I placed the caramel creamer on top of the HTM building because I was drinking a caramel macchiato from White Bear Lake Macchiato Cafe` Cappuccino when snapping the picture with a Montecristo #2 hanging from my lip and a box of glazed donuts on my lap.
