I swore I would never ever change my open comment policy without word verification, but in the last month I have deleted 1000 spamming A-holes. It has just been out of hand. Yes, I realize this change will not stop them all, but at least the automated drops arriving directly to comment URL's will vanish. I do appologize for the added time it takes just to respond to a post. Now, if I could only gather every spammer out there in one room and apply tar & feather!

At least we can take steps to counteract them. I also made comments on posts older than 60 days impossible.
I gree with you hole heartedly.I would add to the tar and feathering run them out of town on a rail!
This is why I do the comment moderation route.

Comment moderation is "just as much" work as deleting comments though. I am not around enough to do that anyway. It also takes away comment "chat" ... which I love to do.

I'm back, Speedy! I tried to do the comment a second time, but when I pushed publish the first time in the embedded box, the comment disappeared. I had to retype it. Then I tried to publish it a second time, and it still wouldn't publish. Aaargh! Oh well. I tried.
