Honestly, and in all sincerity, I know of not one person that has bought a new car in the last 6 months. Freeways here are not even crowded anymore - as unemployment goes over 10%

Um, yeah. New car. It replaced a 1991 Toyota that wouldn't pass state inspection, so it's not like it wasn't due.
Now I'm embarrassed. But I still love the car! We tried for 5 months to make due with one car, but it just wasn't working without tons of favors from other people.
