Smoke Gets in your Eyes

Hello Miss MonepennySmoke Gets in your EyesSmoke Gets in your Eyes
Smoke Gets in your Eyes

Smoke Gets in your Eyes

smoke gets in your eyes

They asked me how I knew my true love was true
I of course replied "something here inside cannot be denied
They said "someday you'll find all who love are blind"
When your heart's on fire, you must realize smoke gets in your eyes
So I *chaffed* them and I gaily laughed to think they could doubt my
Love
Yet today my love has flown away, I am without my love

Now laughing friends deride tears I cannot hide
So I smile and say "when a lovely flame dies, smoke gets in your eyes"

Julies Movie Review: Indiana Jones

The Very First Guest Blogger

The following post was written by Julie for the Speedcat Hollydale Page
___________________________________________________

So my friend Speedcat saw on a previous post of mine that I planned on seeing the new Indiana Jones movie and asked me to do a review of the movie. I saw it earlier today along with my handsome hubby, Jeremy, and our good friend Bobbi. So how was it? Well, let's start with the good.....

Indiana Jones

It was great seeing Indiana Jones again! The hat....the whip.....the jacket....the one-liners....It was so good just seeing him again. Frankly, that was probably the best part of the movie. As my friend Bobbi put it, it was like seeing an old friend again. There was lots of action. Pretty much the whole movie was full of action, actually. There weren't any slow parts, really. The effects were really good. And there were some fabulous stunts in the movie, too. Harrison Ford looked good, although he is definitely looking old. He looked like he was in pretty good shape for a guy his age, though.

Indiana Jones 2

All of that said, here is the less than good part.....Very predictable. The storyline was lacking, especially in certain parts of the movie. I actually had to remind myself a couple of times about "suspension of disbelief". In other words, I had a really hard time buying into some of things that occurred in the the movie. Remember, this is a movie for entertainment purposes only. It doesn't have to be believable, right? You may have to remind yourself of this during the movie. I haven't had this particular problem with any of the other Indiana Jones movies. But for some reason, it was a problem in this one. The villain in this movie, played by Cate Blanchett, wasn't the the best. But I don't blame that on Cate Blanchett (she is a good actress). Once again, I blame that on storyline.

All of that being said.....Did I enjoy the movie? Yes, I did! Am I glad that I went to see it? Yes, I am. Did I enjoy the movie? Yes, I did. Would I recommend it to someone else? Not necessarily. Go see it only if you can keep in mind (and live with) all of the negatives that I said above. Would I see this movie knowing everything above? Yes, I probably would.....I would for a couple of reasons. First, because I am awfully stubborn. Second, because it is Indiana Jones, after all. And it has been a long time since I have seen my old friend on the big screen.

As the Hillary gets closer to extinction, the Obama camp is heating up the race. They are not quite claiming victory, but they are claiming victory. Now, will the rumors be true? Will the party of dissension come together for the Dream Team Obaclinton? They say never now, but as 0007 says, "Never say Never"

Great news for the Hollydale golfer, the Bool e` Vard Minigolf Park is now open! You can play for 25 E cards, or 5 dollars. Before heading out for 18 holes, all groups must sign an insurance waiver. Featured here is the "Firestorm Monkeyman" hole #12. A birdie on this hole will be rare and coveted.

Katie Couric has not had the audience that was hoped for, and has had cosmetic surgery to enhance the viewers experience on the Nightly News. I think she is lookin` HOT ... but I'm not fond of the new Letterman "Gap Toothed" smile. Sure, it works for Dave, but Couric could never be Paul Schaffer's partner. I vote 3 1/2 stars.

Drowsey Monkey is having a birthday party!! As one of my favorite bloggers, I wish her the best day ever. She is not a hugger, but sometimes I hug her anyway ... like today!! Stop over, have some cake, and say hello.

Blogging News: The San Francisco Bay To Breakers Race Part II post by the Traveling Bra has hit the stands. I would present a picture to go with this link, but this is something you will just have to see for yourself. This blogger is left speechless! Check it out, and be forewarned: things be hangin` out ... Not for the timid, view at your own risk!! If you make it through, there is a "Part One" as well.

The Chick has an amazing photo in the "I Watched Rick Schroder Eat Cracker Jacks!" post. Really Cool, and a must see. I always thought she had feathers until now; she is human? Hi Chick!

A Drive To The Other Side has some photos from the USA / Canadian border, and spots along the way into WI. Check it out!!
