Legally blind golfer makes a hole in one : adapted from Times Staff Writer RODNEY PAGE's story

This is Leo E. Fiyalko. He is speaking to all the members at Cove Cay Country Club . Fiyalko is 92 and legally blind! This story really touched my heart, and reminded me of my own hole in one experience when I was 13 years old. I thought I had hit a bad shot that went off the back of the green. After looking for the ball, I decided to check the hole ... and there it was.
Leo said, "All I was interested in was getting on the green."
I guess just as I, the surprise was a bit more than just a good day, it was one that was a highlight of my life on the golf course.

The big event happened on the 110-yard, par-3 fifth hole at Cove Cay Country Club in Clearwater Florida. After 60 years of playing golf, the rarest of shots finally occured. "It was my first hole in one, and I never saw it" said Fiyalko

The feat came on Jan. 10 when Fiyalko and his group teed it up for their weekly nine-hole best-ball outing. The group of 20 to 40 golfers, who range in age from 70 to 90-plus, have gathered every Thursday afternoon during the winter for at least 20 years.

In his prime, Fiyalko played to a seven handicap, but now he needs help lining up his shots and finding his golf balls. A seven handicap? Not to bad! I have struggled for years to have a single digit handicap. I plan on playing golf for a long time to come. That is what is so great about golf in my opinion. You can continue to enjoy the sport for such a long time.
Congratulations Leo, I salute you from the frozen tundras of Minnesota. I wish you well, and also wish I could just get "one" round in soon.

The testing stages went along well, and after 2 weeks Mrs. Gellgabanger had the highest amount of page views per day.... 11.5 This was unheard of in this era, and created quite a stir. Handi's Hardware swooped in and placed "weekly sales ad" on Gellgabangers blog.
Envious, Skeelman adopted a new ranking system that "opened and closed" the wired connections at will. He called this new pioneering idea Googabooga Switching. Of course, a few days later everyone was reading his blog all the time and he had a Switch Rating of 470. Gellgabanger new she had lost the blogging war, and started a new social group. She provided live entertainment and fresh cookies. The internet dissappeared until 1987.

I have seen news recently about kids getting their tongues frozen to poles in the late cold weather here in the North country. Then, I see a post at Drowsey's about the same topic. It seemed prudent to conduct a test of my own.... I went out with a warm glass of water and "ZAP!" - put my own tongue on some metal. I would describe the experience as fun but not worth doing again.

Sunday Zoo Animals

This Gennavene Rayfish was caught in Lake Hollydale by my cousin. They are indigenous to South Africa, and nobody has figured out how or why it was alive here. I think he fell out of an airplane, and started a new life in the clear blue waters of paradise. With such a pleasant atmosphere, who can blame him ... or her, or whatever!

The Green Eldorado lives inside the nasal structures of host animals in the tropical rain forest. Yes, he eats loogie and boogie!!

Pink Ballet Party Trio Strikes Again & How

. . . . In the News: with Speedcat Hollydale

Yes, most have heard of this wild band of ballet dancers by now. They perform during the day, then cause chaos and heartache all night. They travel in a miniature Monte Carlo, and then set up shop on unsuspecting street corners. For centuries law enforcement has tried to capture these vagabond littering wild-cats, but they are swift and keen. Only a few photographs have "enlightened" the public of how devastating these pink tutu wearing ladies really are.
I took this picture last night after loud screaming and outbursts of laughter awoke me from a deep sleep. Thinking that I could impose the "citizens arrest" form of public police action, I swooped in .... BIG mistake! Before I could get my arrest wizard out and detain the trio of party girls, they had me tied to a light post and peeled away in the "Mini Monte". A crowd gathered and cheered, both for my gallant attempt at capture, and the fact that peace had been restored in the valley.
The cops showed up 4 minutes later, and gave me 2 tickets; one for loitering, and one for littering. I do not like the Pink Ballet Party Trio one bit... but at least I have a great story to tell here on my blog, and one heck of a picture to prove the travesty that took place.
