Shades of the Past are Full of Color

Shades of the Past are Full of ColorShades of the Past are Full of ColorShades of the Past are Full of ColorShades of the Past are Full of ColorShades of the Past are Full of ColorShades of the Past are Full of ColorShades of the Past are Full of ColorShades of the Past are Full of Color

Shades of the past are full of color
Light refractions through time beckon my imagination
all things change, evolve, adapt
As we travel along our life path
I contimplate if the road was paved with aforethought
were the bridges built before we crossed them?
The branches of life grow random, yet guided
They reach to the sky, and rejuvenate through storm
The measure is not in mass, nor strength
but in beauty, and grandeur
The true mark of poise is felt and carried
in the mirrors of recollection, and visions of fate
Respect holds no boundary

This is a hero, and a woman of heart ... someone I have the pleasure to know. At 99 and counting, she glows in the shadows, and lights up my soul.

Speedy, you big ol' hunk of sentimental goo you! The photos and prose are just BEAUTIFUL, who is this amazing woman? Somehow, I don't worry so much about growing old now! (Well, maybe just a little...)
xo

Olga ... someone I know, yes. This was more of a tribute to women everywhere though.

Many women are the root of the family, and go relatively un-noticed as they are so instumental in the faith and glue that bonds a family.

What a great contribution from the good old days - took me down the memory lane and made me feel young again

Btw: Hop over: Olga is going crazy with a polar bear and the Vikings and act like a pirate, stealing boats at Oslo Maritime!

Nurse: Great Hat!!!!!!!

Sandee ... many think I am silly 24/7

I am serious for about 20 minutes each day. ((smile))

Babs ... she is not related to me directly, but gives me a kiss every time I see her. She is Kind with a capital K

Wow - is that your mom by any chance? Is it a resemblance I see or my mind playing tricks on me? Your words were beautiful!

Speedcat Hollydale said...

Maunie ... I do not really consider myself a writer, although sometimes a mood or inspiration just "hits me".

I like blogging because I can produce any varity of posts I may have erupt from my brain. People have said that I have the most random blog ever ... I like that!!

Speedcat Hollydale said...

Thank you Chris .... I am so very glad to have you as a new commenter here! (hug)

Dmarks: I have somewhat of an obsession with historical places, pictures, and even architecture.

These pictures have many meanings to me, and are even places I travel through "today"

Speedcat Hollydale said...

Hi Terri!

As a photographer yourself ... I have LOVED the way you use images on your blog too :-)

Speedcat Hollydale said...

Thanks Teeni!!!!!!!

It is not my own mother. I don't think there are words powerful enough to describe the love and adoration I have for my own mother. I was blessed to have the greatest mom in the world, without a doubt.

Eric, what a lovely post. As I read you blog today, I felt collectively honored with all the women in the world. We have a lot to live up to. You are awesome. I have seen this side of you before. Some examples are when you speak of you elderly father, or, when you wanted so desperately to help you alcoholic friend, and, even more recently, when you wrote a post about a missing blogger friend. That is the measure of a man who cares about this world. Thank you.

Awake In Rochester said...

That was sweet, and very touching. It's so good to see this other side of you!

I'll say a prayer tonight for this lovely 99 year old woman.

Speedcat Hollydale said...

McKay ... I see the same warmth and caring nature in you. It's what attracted me to your blog.

One note ... My father is a workhorse, brilliant, and very much young. He was out carving up the forest like Paul Bunyan with his new chainsaw the other day. He is also my best friend in the world :-)

Speedcat Hollydale said...

Awake in Rochester ... you thought I was crazy, right??

I pretty much am!! Most of the time anyway.

Debo Hobo said...

I love that she is in the coolest fashions. The ladies always looked to classy at all times.

Awake In Rochester said...

I thought that there was another side to you. I just didn't know if you would express it. I'm glad that you did.

Speedcat Hollydale said...

Debo ... she still is a fashion bug!!

Speedcat Hollydale said...

Awake .... smile

Actually, I have done hundreds of posts like this. It just happened to be what came out at the given time.

Daisy said...

What do you think??

Daisy said...

Yes, definitely! You have a poet's soul, Speedy. I enjoy all your posts because they are so creative. This is just yet another area where your creative talent comes through loud and clear. :-)

Eric,
I sit here in awe at finding this little treasure.
You honor her beautifully, not only by they photos you've included, buy by the words you've spun with care. You write very beautifully. And from the heart.
You've also let shine, another facet of you. I smile to myself as I see another part of you.
A man of substance.
