So my friend Speedcat saw on a previous post of mine that I planned on seeing the new Indiana Jones movie and asked me to do a review of the movie. I saw it earlier today along with my handsome hubby, Jeremy, and our good friend Bobbi. So how was it? Well, let's start with the good.....
It was great seeing Indiana Jones again! The hat....the whip.....the jacket....the one-liners....It was so good just seeing him again. Frankly, that was probably the best part of the movie. As my friend Bobbi put it, it was like seeing an old friend again. There was lots of action. Pretty much the whole movie was full of action, actually. There weren't any slow parts, really. The effects were really good. And there were some fabulous stunts in the movie, too. Harrison Ford looked good, although he is definitely looking old. He looked like he was in pretty good shape for a guy his age, though.
All of that said, here is the less than good part.....Very predictable. The storyline was lacking, especially in certain parts of the movie. I actually had to remind myself a couple of times about "suspension of disbelief". In other words, I had a really hard time buying into some of things that occurred in the the movie. Remember, this is a movie for entertainment purposes only. It doesn't have to be believable, right? You may have to remind yourself of this during the movie. I haven't had this particular problem with any of the other Indiana Jones movies. But for some reason, it was a problem in this one. The villain in this movie, played by Cate Blanchett, wasn't the the best. But I don't blame that on Cate Blanchett (she is a good actress). Once again, I blame that on storyline.
All of that being said.....Did I enjoy the movie? Yes, I did! Am I glad that I went to see it? Yes, I am. Did I enjoy the movie? Yes, I did. Would I recommend it to someone else? Not necessarily. Go see it only if you can keep in mind (and live with) all of the negatives that I said above. Would I see this movie knowing everything above? Yes, I probably would.....I would for a couple of reasons. First, because I am awfully stubborn. Second, because it is Indiana Jones, after all. And it has been a long time since I have seen my old friend on the big screen.

Hi Eric,
Now I know what you go through when you are at home.
It literally took me almost 5 hours to make this wee post. I barely have a connection at all.
And I was just over to Julies and saw her review. It was fantastic as always.
And she got tagged just like you are getting tagged.
Link love and your it!!

It's a fun one!!
Hugs,
Jackie
Hi Jackie! I saw it on my cell already (wink). Looks like fun, and something right up my alley. So glad you thought of me for this ... I'll do my best to spice up the meme!!
I just want to say, I see refrigerators with all new possibilities after seeing Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull of psychic power.
Mom took us out tonight to go see it and it ROCKED. I'm sorry ... I'm too easily boonswaggled to have any problem with things being too FAKE. Kate Blanchett has psychic powers? COOL! I wanna watch her read Indy's mind! That's totally possible!
Hope she doesn't stop by my house.
Unless she's in a revellatory mood.
Thank you so much, Speedy, for honoring me with the first guest blogger! Wooohoooo! I am glad that you like my review!
My mother LOVED this movie.
My father HATED this movie.
All I know is that…yeah MAYBE it was a little too much of a stretch of the imagination…but….isn’t THAT exactly what a summer blockbuster is supposed to be?
I *heart* Harrison Ford. Period.
Can't wait to see the movie..thanks for all the info...he will never look old to me..
I don't watch television or movies, so I won't be seeing this. I do remember liking Indiana Jones when I did partake. Have a great day. :)
mmm I wonder if Julie places golf...:))..
I wonder if Julie has a chicken franchise in California..:)))..I ndiana Jones is a close relative to Becky Jones who also lives in Indiana....Becky is the thrid cousin of Lester Piggot whose life Indiana Jones was based on litttle known fact...:)))) or it might be the musings of a deranged mind...
Yes, I love Julie's blog :) And she's a fantastic reviewer ... excellent Julie! :)
I agree with meleah rebeccah and mauniejames3 regarding Harrison Ford....He still looks pretty darn good and I don't expect that to change!
Robert-I don't play golf, but am willing to give it a try! I am not aware of any chicken franchise that I own....Do you know of any chicken franchise that I own? And regarding the deranged mind.....I think it is better not to even comment on that one.... :-)
Thanks for the review! I love Indiana Jones.. Even if the new one is possibly cheezy! I haven't seen it yet.. I will soon though.
Hey Julie!! Looks like you have a hit :-)
Thanks for commenting here too everyone.
I think about the same. Great Indie, the guy is in good shape, cute Shia Leboeuf but the main storyline is a bit... weird. Stretched out.
Nonetheless, I enjoy the movie.
thanks for the grrreat review Julie...
I'll be looking forward to seeing it as I am a long time fan of Harrison Ford ...(next to Speedy...of course ;) ;)
Zhu: Thanks for the input ... and nice to see you here!!
Kim: you kind words will be kept in my strongbox. I keep all the COOL stuff in there. The calandar will be there as well, once we run out of year. OOoops, year gone, must get new calandar. Maybe I will win a prize again next year too?? Yhaaaaaaaaaa Hooooooooooooo!!!
A hit?! Look at all of these comments! Woooohooooo! I am glad that you all like my review.
I even have a couple of people agreeing with my general opinion on the movie. Thanks zhu and Kim! And I am glad that you liked the review, too, Michelle! And I appreciate the thumbs up for my blog & review, DrowseyMonkey!
Thank youuuuuuu!
I did a review on this one also and my conclusion was that I was entertained but disappointed which is very hard to do. Not much that put it above the rest of the stuff that's out there.
Hi Ricardo ... I will check it out!!
