The Masters .... a golf tournament with a history so rich, that even non-golfers will follow it to an extent. This is Tiger Woods playing a practice round at Augusta National. The earliest rounds played are done so with the members still allowed on the greens. There are no spectators, nor galleries. Just men alone against this magical course. I'll bet you can almost hear the words of Bobby Jones, Hogan, and other legends as your feet step down these hollowed fairways.
I realized in writing a friend today that I have not played in almost half a year. Many times in Minnesota, I can get a round or two in during December, and then again in March. Not this winter - it just will not quit. Today there was a possibility of finding a course that was open after work .... it rained like crazy. Tired and dejected, I instead made it home to simply collapse, and take a nap. I have been feeling stressed, overtaxed, and to put it plainly, like there is a big hole in my life. No wonder.
I remember just as yesterday playing one of my favorite courses with my father for the first time about 5 years ago. I was stunned by the beauty and grander of this track. The day was a perfect 10 .... sunny, 75, calm gentle breezes blowing through my hair. I stopped in the fairway, took everthing in for a second and looked at pops. "Heaven could not be better than this", I told him. This statement was true to the core of my being.
I saw this picture of Woods at Augusta, and the photo pulled me "into" it. I realized what I am missing, and what I long for. No, not to be a champion, or famous, but just to be there.

Speedcat... I played a round of golf last week in Palm Springs. And yes, I thought of you. I felt like you deserved to be on the course more than I did. You guys have had a brutal winter. I'm up for the Masters! Let the game begin!

I know what you're feeling. Minnesota winters have that affect. I hope that spring decides to settle in here soon and you get your chance to go golfing on a regular basis again.
well, I have No Excuse for not playing as much as I should. I live on a golf course and I am a member of the club. I dont know what my problem is.
Thanks Speedy... It was sincere!
My wish for you, darling Speedy, is to have a 4 hour break in the weather, where the sun shines, but not to brightly as you swing, swing your way to Glory!
I have an overwhelming need to hit a couple of Duck Hooks with a shank or two throw in for good measure...:)))
My Handyman is getting the fever. He has decided that I need to take lessons this year and golf with him more. I think he's lost it! I know is patience level! Zilch! Nodda! Zip!!! He almost bought me a set of clubs last weekend at Golf World! I tell ya! He's lost it!!

Eric,
I have never golfed nor have I ever known a golfer so I can not say I know how you feel. I do know that when you do get to play, it will be the greatest game of the year.Have a blast! ;-D
