In my recent Movie "HollyCaddy"
Getting out of the car, the sun was out, and it was about 45 degrees warm. The hole behind the fence is a short 345 yarder that I have hit many times with a driver on the fly. There is water right, and out of bounds left.
The clubhouse at my home course is not pristine, nor the nicest in Minnesota, but it has a feel that welcomes you. People that play here are usually working guys like me, and I have met tons of great players on the tee box.
Picture taken as I unload to impact with a wedge. I try and make a downward blow with any iron shot from the ground.
After impact: I will always take a divot the size of my hand. The club is still not passed the angle of my arms because of this. My swing thought is to drive down onto the top of the ball, not into it from behind.
I carry a 62 degree lob wedge. You couldn't pry this one out of my bag, as it throws the ball up so high. Many shots around the green, especially when you're short sided are so much easier.
Here on the 16th hole, as it starts to get a little darker, I go for the green on this par 5 with my second shot. This ball landed to the right side, with the correct distance.
Before driving home, I decided to shoot one more picture. This would be the very last time I had grass under my feet at any golf course this year. I didn't realize this at the moment. For someone like me that has a passion for playing, practicing, and being in the fresh air, the end of the season is tough. To me, heaven would be golf every day with my father. I know of nothing that I enjoy more. They say you always want what you don't have, and right now it's under a blanket of Minnesota snow.

Eric,
I'm so sad for you. NO golf for a few months. What do you do with yourself? Go to Dave & Busters and play virtual golf?
My heart's breaking for you my friend!
Eric! Touching about the part of you playing golf with your dad!
You're right about wantign things you don't have because around our area we never get snow...maybe a cold rain...sometimes hail the size of golf balls but that's it!
Always dream of a white Christmas! :)
So what do they do with the course in the winter? Do people cross country ski on it?
Kanani: A lot of people do just that. Hilly courses also attract sliders and the like.
I'll stop by later today!
Adrian: Your Santa collection is super!! I was just at your site.
Wacky Nucci: Dave & Busters?? How do I get there? :-)
So sad...but where's the snow?
nice form as usual Speedy...if there is water on a course I usually pack a mask and flippers....:):)
